G'day All,
I have new suspension on my 94' toyota hilux with 2" lift but just spent the weekend out at The Springs at Warwick, and my front wheels would rub underneath the floor where the pedals are and the same on the other side when ever I had full lock and full articulation. Is this normal for a Hilux? or do I take it bake to them and tell them to shove it. It is a rigid front axle with leafs.

Might pay to measure the distance from the diff locating pin to the front spring eye on old a new springs if it's close to the same measurement the spring isn't the problem, Also shock lenght comes into play here if these have a short lenght when closed that could be letting the wheel come up further and also did you leave the bump stops in. Might pay to lift the cab. i take it you are still running the 31 allterains

I haven't got the old springs there original and F'ed. I'll check the bump stops, and I also took it back to the fellas that did it and they sayed it was my of off set, I was going too hard on it which I think is crap because its a 4WD and thats what it says on the shocks, and that I should panel beat the floor in bout half an inche.

This is pretty normal on a lux especially on the drivers side. due to the "torque arm" for the push pull steering system, the diff kinda "rotates" around it a bit.colinsweir wrote:I haven't got the old springs there original and F'ed. Your shocks should not be limiting uptravel, this is what a bumpstop is for

mate you should have a second hole on your left diff perch if you drill one to match on the drives side you can move your diff housing fwd about 33mm. but you will need to get a drag link to suit (superior engineering do these) and a adjustable torque rod (if you want to retain it). Because bashing in the floor on the drives side may affect brake clutch and acclelerater travel, which means less brakes less go and tough gear changes. OR throw some 2" blocks under the cab

Hey mate, I have a 90 model solid axle lux with 2inch lift and 32" tyres. Mine used to hit really hard on the drivers side only right below the pedals. I took it in for a full front end alignment. I also adjusted my diff locator ( torque rod ) and that made quite a bit of difference. Then I noticed my drivers side U Bolts had worked loose. After tightening them up I have virtually no scrubbing at all.
By the way, dont bother belting the floor with a hammer, I tried this and unfortunately at first I did not realise it was right below my accelerator. Went to take off and only had 1-2cm of pedal haha

Just lift the cab 2" if your going to run 32's you'll have to do it anyway and with the blocks from superior only 15 bucks each why not then all you need to get is some longer high tensile nuts and bolts and maybe a steering shaft extension. What does that front end alingment include there isn't much to adjust on a lux

I have done this as well, it is easy and is only gonna cost you the price of a drill bit and a new adjustable torque rod. I have 33x12.5 and 4" lift on my solid axle lux and i get really good flex for leaf springs.. 3.0L turbo diesel, 4" lift, bud's front housing, track assasin cv's, air lokker front + Rear, beadlock'd 37 stickies, high steer, 15.5" travel ranchos, high pinion diff and coils on the rear
They should have installed an adjustable rod with the lift kit. Mine was only hitting at full lock, had the alignment done as it was turning further to the right than it was to the left. This fixed most of the problem, I then played with the adjustable rod and have all but eliminated the problem
I may be slow but I'm ahead of you!
