ok i wanna put a rover v8 in my hilux . but no one makes a adaptor kit or any thing to put it with a lux box . my question is . dose the rangie gear box ( auto or manual) and transfer have the same side drop as a hilux or is it the oppeset??????
im thinking it could be much cheaper to use the motor, gearbox & and trasnfer than trying to adaptit . and im thinking that the rover drive line will take a bit more abuse from the motor .
other question . what auto is the tuffest rover box??

Personally I'd use the LC60's, especially if you're on big rubber as its a lot stronger than the RR diff. I'm in the process of building a Landy with the Rover V8/gearbox, and have used the LC60 axles and so far its coming together nicely. Also, the transfer is designed to run a 3.54 diff and 29's if its out of a Rangie/Disco and 31's if its out of a Defender. I'm running the Defender one, with the 4.1 LC60 diffs which gears me standard for 37's.

no longer aparently . a bloke in NZ had a bell housing but nothing else and apatrently you need a special fork and other crap . ive got so many ideas but i get halted by either reality or budget blowout . ok i know it cost to build a capable rig but i wanna try and repower with simalar weight better ballance and siplicity of aftermarket electronic ignition and LPG . dont wanna have the stuffing aroud with wiring lomms and carp . ( THATS WHY I DONT WANT A HOLDEN V6 and i want somthing unique). mite talk to the ennginerr and see ahst he thinks about putting a hilux body on a rangie chassie , or fabing in all rangie running gear to th ehilux chassie.closet1092004 wrote:I think I remember the rover v8 to hilux conversion being in the Dellows catalogue.
