Haultech Traction Control
Is there anyone still on this forum who is involved with Haultech who can give me an update in the Traction Control?
Posted here as am am 99% sure others would be interested...
i.e:
1. Can I buy a kit yet for my GQ?
2. Is anyone else running it now, preferably non-comp who can supply some feedback on the product?
3. Can it be used onroad without 4WD, e.g. in wet/snowy conditions - would it improve safety in these conditions?
Any news much appreciated.

Mate Rod is still there, Tony would still have the answers to your questions, etc
But I can tell you that you won't have to worry about snow on the road in Brisbane. Won't even have to worry about water on the road to often.

Will do, when I get back to Brisbane.JWB wrote:Ring Haultech on 1800625746 and ask!
If they have a product available it would be good for them to update their web site.
As for the snow question, I hope to drive down to the snow next winter. I am currently in Denver and there is snow and ice on the roads and all the huge "SUV's" are slipping all over the place, because they are part-time 4WD, have no weight in the back tray, and have massive torque. And the conditions are constantly changing - some roads are cleared and some are not, The little AWD's and smaller SUV's with traction control have no problems. Seriously, the big Titans, Sierras, Silverados, etc, seem to be pretty dangerous in these conditions - and they are everywhere. Not a good place to drive a Mini.
Send me your details via PM and I will call them asap for youMomo wrote:BUMP.
I've mustered the effort to try calling again and I can't get through on any of the numbers listed on the website since the apparent relocation.
This sucks. Any Haultech employee or owner or fanboy reading this? Please respond.
And the have moved their workshop so there is no "apparent" required

"It was just an ordinary day, and you saw them. There were guys in their Porsches, "Look at me in my Porsche, ha ha!" and they were overtaken by a van. Driven by a girl!"
Why should the guy have to contact RUFF about a Haultech problem?bogged wrote:before everyone goes destroying the places reputation, why not send a PM to RUFF..
He used to work there, and may have some information on what is going on.
And its not as if this problem just surfaced....he said its been over 12 months already
Surley on of the 4 HTE guys that are on here regularly can sort this guy out with a response.
Why??? Cause then he can find out if his phone actually works which will put them one step closer to sorting out their real world communication skills.Micka wrote:Why should the guy have to contact RUFF about a Haultech problem?bogged wrote:before everyone goes destroying the places reputation, why not send a PM to RUFF..

What Andrew e bought from me was a half wrecked and destroyed (rolled it big time on flat gound at superior all terrain) landrover that once had traction control. The landrover that he bought never had these "disks". The plan was if we could find some here at work we would send them to him and if we couldnt find any old ones then "no stress" Andrew will just make them up himself. The disks are just a bit of tin plate with some holes drilled in them. So the reason why its been 12 months is because of the "no stress" bit. We havnt found any old ones here at work and Andrew hasnt made them for himself either. Its not like Andrew is going to get landrover going any time soon. If he was, then Im sure Andrew would be able to get this sorted. Bascally at the moment Andrew rings up every couple of months and says "found those disks yet?" and the answer is something like "I think rod actually actualy found one of them the other day" He says "good - what about the others" The answer is "they should be around here somewhere". And then Andrew says "good - send them to me when you find them"
You know its a nice and friendly phone conversation, nice and casual, not needing them urgently, can make them himself is it has to come down to that ...... blah blah blah.
And now I get "Its been over 12 months since i paid for my kit and i still dont have the wheel plates."
Well fu(k you very much.
Arnt bulliten boards wonderful.

Momo – to you I must apologise. I think that you are going to struggle to get this working on your vehicle. I think its all a little to much prototypish for you to make happen. So I think the easiest thing for everybody involved is for us give you your money back. So try again to contact us – 1800 625 746. This number works fairly well for most people.

Now just to clarify the situation. Any of these traction control systems that we sell to anybody we make it perfectly clear that these are still prototype systems.
There are no instructions, there are no "installation kits", there are no user manuals. We dont advertise that we sell these systems. We dont sell these systems to make money - we might do one day but that is still a long way off. We much around with this stuff cause its fun - same reason why we muck around with building buggies, cvs, slotted bushes etc etc.
From time to time we get people that want this system. Generally what happens is these people chase us for information about what the system is, how it works and what it will take to get it working on their vehicle. For 95% of people it is really just too hard for them cause the system isn developed enough for them to install or get it installed easily so they go away.
The 5% of people think - fawk yea - sounds awesome - should be fun to get this going. Generally these people are into 4wds and are also into computers and this system appeals to them cause its a computer controlling the vehicles individual wheelspeeds - if you are into this sort of stuff then the system is really really cool. Generally these people get everything up and running without too much trouble and really enjoy it for what it is.

Sam,
I knew what I was getting myself into and I took the time off work to install it and I did everything I could to make it happen.
One of the problems that came up was that over here in WA it seems that serious mods like changing the brake system have to be engineered first, and because you guys didn't have an actual ADR approval number I could provide to the brake shop for doing the lines, they refused to do it until I had approval.
So I submitted an application myself, drew up the schematics and provided as much info as I could and included your contact details, when I rang licensing to see why it was taking so long they said they were just waiting to hear from you guys with some additional info. I don't know what that info is.
In addition, one of the solenoids was leaking so I sent the main unit back and haven't seen or heard of anything since. I had been told you were busy with your aircon work, and I understand that is your bread and butter, so I allowed a few months slack, even waiting till your website said you had shifted premises. Once I had decided it was time to see what was going on and I couldn't get through on any of the phone numbers thats when I posted here, and lo and behold, something is now happening.
If you want to refund me for the kit, thats fine, if you want to help me continue, thats fine also. I have nothing against you guys, and Charles was always very friendly and helpful, it was just getting to the stage where it looked like I might be pushed to the back of the line indefinately. Thats the truth of the matter so I will now call and take it up with you guys privately again. I also have to update people that had shown interest in your kit both here and in the states so I'm guessing it is best that I say its still in development.
BTW, your website says from 8th Jan to ring the new numbers listed.
Cheers, Josh.

i wasn't bagging you or Haultech.
I have never said that i would make the plates. The last time i spoke to you, you asked me if i could make them, and i said if i had a sample i might, but i'd prefer you to get them done.
The landrover has been going since october (driving and stopping in high and low). It just hasn't been wheeling yet.
I am a friendly, nice and casual bloke, but how many times do i have to chase these up?
And i dont think it looks good for a reputable company, if a director tells his customer on a open forum " Well fu(k you very much. "
Andy
I am honestly not having a dig here, but i was under the impression that from previous posts this was a kit being sold and ADR approved mainly designed for the Range Rover and custom made to suit other vehicles, and had to be installed by an approved installer (i think Overkill Eng was one). Now just to clarify the situation. Any of these traction control systems that we sell to anybody we make it perfectly clear that these are still prototype systems.

I'm not sure why you bothered to quote me in your reply...and to be honest, the only reply from you should have been that you have contacted the person concerned and that you are doing everything you can to solve the problem.Strange Rover wrote:Why??? Everything else that you wrote should have been restricted to those concerned.
You should be editing your reply.
Dont stress - I always choose my written words carefully.andrew e wrote: And i dont think it looks good for a reputable company, if a director tells his customer on a open forum " Well fu(k you very much. "

I think my reputation can handle me throwing some shiat your way after you implied you paid money for complete functioning system when in actual fact you bought a landrover wreck. Not like I said you should jam your traction control into an orrifice or anything.

Whats the point of editing my reply now that you have alreaded quoted what I posted. I would come off looking like an idiot.Micka wrote:
