2000 GU Patrol ST 2.8TD

Post by 4WD Pom »

Hi guys

Have seen a 2000 GU Patrol ST 2.8TD for sale at $17k with 185,000kms on the clock. Good service history, tidy looking vehicle, just been registered in NSW from ACT. After something to do some touring around Oz and just wanted to see if there are any things I should look at for, any problems with the 2.8TD (I have heard horror stories about the 3l!?!).

Cheers

Depends on who you talk to regarding the 2.8

Have heard of and, indeed, know of many people with 2.8's who are extremely happy with them and they are still going strong with 400,000k's on the clock.

Others find them underpowered for the size of vehicle that the GU is , particularly off boost, but that's nothing that some tweaking by a good diesel mechanic, a good exhaust and a chip can't fix.

Watch the Fly wheel, should have been replaced by now, the factory ones are dual mass and tend to disintergrate.

If it's in good nick, should be a good buy!

You can do better than that on a 2.8 in price.. They are very underpowered, but honest engine...
have a search there are many 2.8 threads and how the phuck do I get more power out of my 2.8 threads in the NIssan section
