Lightforce HID 50w upgrade

Post by gtir300 »

Have heard a rumour that Lightforce are bringing out a 50w HID upgrade for approx $500 for their Normal HID light (standard 35w), now I run a set of XGT's and I am wondering if this upgrade kit could be fitted, thereby avoiding drilling the XGT body with the other kits available off ebay and the like.

Anyone else heard anything about this????

It would be odd if they did.
Also i couldn't see it being an easy fit to XGT's or they'd do themselves out of sales of HID's..
What i can tell you is we have the 50w HID's and they are sexual ;)

Rumour I heard:
240HID (35w) were coming down to around $900.00 each.
240HID (50w) were around the typical RRP of $1150.00 each.

As for the upgrade kit, can remember reading about a Lightforce 35w HID upgrade kit for the XGT's years ago. However, after looking at my first set of XGT's yonks ago, I never knew how it could be added into the XGT housing without cracking off the front lens. Since they're all glued and completely sealed. When you open up the rear of the light, there is only about 15mm of gap in order to anything with.

However after all that yabber, the 50w upgrade kit should able to fit straight into the 35w HID housing, since it is different in design to that of the XGT. Easier access to replace the ballast.

Bah... Another 12 months and 12-volt 75-watt metal halides (HID) kits will be widely available and (possibly) cheap as.
(Ye old spazzo rumour: You can see Hella Predators from outter space. And they be 28 watt. Might be able to see 75 watters from the moon. Ha ha)

There is a HID spot with ballast and all included in housing with only two small wires coming out to wire up. 5 Watt current draw on startup, 3 watt when running. Unsure of exact details yet of output wattage, but I'm getting some next week or the one after. Want spread but unsure if available. These are cheaper than the Lightforces even before the HID conversion. The spot version also comes in a handheld rechargable torch version for less than $300. Would blind those possums! I'll see it the dealer will do a deal for bulk if anyone interested?
