Rear Diff whine
Rear Diff whine
My rear diff is whining somewhat, it gets louder the faster you go. Also it mainly does it when under power and cruise, significantly quieter under deceleration.
Whats the most likely problem? Im thinkin pinion bearings cos i fitted a locker in it about 6months ago and backlash was fine then, but i didnt touch the pinion bearings.

Drop the oil, and see what its like. If its okay, no contamination, metal shards, water etc, fill her back up and see how it goes. You can try some of the diff adidive if you want, but this can be a band aid solution.

Try to invistigate this, as any water contamination will eventually damage the internals. How is it getting in, do you park your car in a creeksuzuki boy wrote:If only i had your job!
