Hi everyone,
New to the forum and been offered a chance to buy a low Km 1995 Pajero 3.5 auto LWB auto. Dont have a great deal of knowledge on this so wondered what your views might be on this version? Current plans are as a town car but heading off around next January and plan to include include in the trip some more challenging off road expeditions (crossing the Simpson is top of the list). Plan is to gradually modify the spec as funds allow.
Thanks

1995 3.5 lwb. What do you think?

Good vehicle, the 3.5 should be the DOHC version - heaps of power, but a little less torque at low revs than the later SOHC version. Shouldn't matter in an auto.
In terms of off-road ability, they're better than most 'Cruiser/Patrol owners realise (or will acknowledge.) With decent tyres and a modest suspension lift, there's not too many (tourist) places they won't go. The Simpson won't be a problem.
Good luck,
Scott

Can't really go wrong with a Paj, for touring and some h.duty offroad. Limited by its specs when compared to the yotas or trolls. Get a good set of rubber, teak the torsions, if req'd drop in a locker but get the guts up as high as you can. Check or service the rear LSD as its one of the best out there. You would be amazed at what they can do - and ifs nice suprising the Ãgnorant'.
As a troll driver i would give the Paj top marks in comfort for touring and general 4wding' The yota (pwado) was a touch hard and the troll is like a lumbering OX - but gotta love a solid axle . Enjoy the Paj - and hit this and the other forums for the info - that way you learn from all our f#$% ups or good mistakes.
Definately go for the 3.5 over the 3.

Hi,
The deal on the 3.5 has just fallen through but I am sticking with looking for a Pajero (a 3500 if I can) and the advice I have recieved on mods will still be really useful so thanks everyone for your help.
There seem to be more 2.5 and 2.8 diesels around in my price range so may look in that direction as well - any thoughts?
Thanks
