Does anyone know if there is a web page for the vic winch challenge? Any info from past competitors or organisers would be great too...

Navnite coming up in march is full but if you talk to Rudi or hobzee, Navrun on here, they might put you on a 'reserves' list.. if it's not already a mile long... Otherwise the piranha pursuit in April..

Dont expect any of the information you need for a few months yet.

Untill a club announces it running the event and they find a location dates will be set then.

We orgnaised last years events and didnt get confirmation untill June and the event was in october....

its in the ccda calender for August the 25th however they could well change as vic winch is usually late september to the end of october..

If i was you I would the nav series first the vic winch isnt really an entry level event yes they're new drivers out there however some of them could compete and do compete in the A-grade class.

Tallarok 4x4 is running it, hence why it is at the same site as the Round 1 Engel, they did an awesome job for that so hopefully Vic Winch is As good

Vic winch usually comprises of 3 Friday night stages 6 Saturday stages and 3 Sunday stages . all though last year was an exception cause we had a Saturday night stage as well! It is a great event as an entry level into the extreme side of competitions but dont think it is a walk in the park, it just means that the big boys who have finished higher in other events aren't allowed to play with us! The event organisers take new competitors before older competitors and also a first in best dressed kind of deal. It follows CCDA ruling which is good for all safety reasons and insurance. I have also heard it will be held at the Engel Rd1 site and be organised by Tallarook 4x4 Club

So CCDA class B event?
Are there any other supplementary rules?
How hard is it on parts?
How much breakage did most people experience last year?

What sort of mods does one need to be competitive?

Are we talking evil motor mods, crazy dual motor water cooled high mounts, etc.

Or a relatively normal truck with dual diff locks, very decent flex, 35's or 36's and a high mount might have a chance?

How well you go... is how well you can drive & how good you & your navi's winching skills are is what sums up the final results like any winch comp.

But @ yea your Navi better be fit!!! As those hill are a killer!

Yes you have a chance . Driver , navi and truck need to go hard all weekend .You will damage your truck.

To comply with CCDA regs you need a 4 point cage IIRC.

We used a water cooled highmount on Sunday last year and it didnt help us. We ran a muddy river through it at speed. You can do an event with little damage, or you can try!!!!!!

How well has the best placed TJ ever gotten?
Any action on celuloid of previous events at this venue?
Are there compulsory winch stages?

last vic winch 06, second place james tyrell in a carby gq shorty, couldnt rev more than 4k cause it would start breaking down. 12v himount standard, bullbar and 35inchtyres basically and pulled second place outrite. no you dont need a big wallet but knowing how to drive is alot cheaper. cheers and have fun

Just enter the event dont expect to win and have a good time! I might just do that . But I think it makes sence to see what sort of set ups the comp is suited too.

This may sound stupid to some of you who have been doing this for years and years but where can one take his rig to practice this sort of winching and driving?

We competed last year in a fairly bog stock 2.8 turbo hilux dual cab, we were running a tabor 9000k lowmount and were on 32" tyres.
We had a blast, we completed 11 out of 12 stages without a DNF or penalty points, it was only on the the last stage i lost my brain and it turned to sh*t.
Just enter and have ago, its supposed to be an entry level event so the more new blood the better.

As far a winching practice goes you can do that anywhere you have previously been driving. Get a copy of 4wd tv's dvd from last year and the year before that should show you what your up against.
