Just after a bit of advice regarding the above .... some history of the rig
Vitara 1.6l 4spd auto to hilux case(c/w 5.1's)to cruiser diffs(c/w 4.8's)
So I have read in the Nissan section (yes still skim over shite after getting rid of the mav ) And theres a post in there about Gq auto tranny's overheating ...some advice to the fella was to make sure that the oil lines still run into the factory (radiator) oil cooler then on and into a secondary cooler....otherwise it will still overheat during the slow (crawling) driving...... Iwould of thought it would be better being away from th heat transmitted from the water temp of the radiator .....even though i would still fit near the radiator to still get the draw through from the engine fan ....
So I would assume this would account for any rig what are other peoples thoughts ....I have a Davies Craig oil cooler ready to fit ....intially I was going to run it through the rad oil lines aswell ....but more recent was just goin to fit the 1 cooler and be done with it .....but after reading the other post am thinking of doing the same .....this rig will only get driven in crawling situations ( no road or very little) no high speed events (its only 1.6 after all )
hey mate i have the nissan auto running on its own tranny cooler and i have had no problems with overheating keeping it seperate the the rad helps it as the auto guy told me i got the biggest tranny cooler i could find say 250x200 about that any way im moving the cooler to the back of the car somewhere under the tray and im going to put a little thermo fan on it as well

With the auto fluid running through the radiator, there is always a chance of it cracking and ending up with water in the auto trans fluid.
Some VS Commodores have had this happen that I know of.
My dad overheated his radiator, and the guys first suggestion was to not use the radiator to aid in cooling anymore.
He installed one big fawk off cooler in front of the radiator and hasn't had an issue since. (Was towing caravan etc).
I think keep it simple and just use the biggest cooler you can fit on the front

The water from the radiator cool's the transmission oil and the transmission runs hotter but it wouldent hurt it to by pass it either just run the biggest cooler you can fit and if it is not in direct air flow run a fan on the cooler to.
