longer front rover shocks???

can people suggest longer front shocks (brand and length) to fit rover front ends. front turrett can be spaced to any height, also mounts can be changed using pin 2 eye convertor and/or disco s2 turrett.

Toyota 80 series front seem to work well in my buisness partners rangie. I think he has extended the front towers by an inch to fit them in. These shocks give about as much flex as the slotted bushes can allow.
If you used longer shocks then you dont have to be as concerned about where your ride height sits in relation to the shock position. For example with this rangie if we put in a two inch lift we would have to lower the shocks a bit and put in some bumpstop spacers to maintain full travel. If instead he had 14in travel shocke to start with this shock would still be perfect with the 0 lift or 2in lift and not limit travel in either case.

Okay, I'm looking at running rangie spares orange spring (17.2" free length and 180lb per inch rate) if I ran a 14" shock and didn't modify the shock towers I would get maximum travel out of the setup? and this would work about as good as having slotted bushes?

The 14in travel shocks are about 5inches longer than a stock RR front shock at full compression. So you need to lengthen the shock towers by 5in or so if you want to run them and still keep your stock bumpstops.
If you just run the shocks as is then you really need to lower you bumpstops by the same margin (5inches) so that you dont smash the shocks out when you bottom out.
Obviously you can run any combination (say lift the towers by 3in and lower the bumpstops by 2in) and this will still work.
Even if you ran these shocks the bushes will still limit articulation - probably to less than 7in of shock travel. Which is why we are doing these slotted ones ... they will get you to abot 10in shock travel in articulation. To go to more you really need to loose the radius arms all together.

Yea - I know, the whole thing is a bit of a PITA so Im thinking Im just going to start selling them on the quiet here and sorting it all out as I go.
Now with the small production runs that we have/are doing with these bushes and cost of insurance blah blah that I havent sorted we are going to sell them for $37.50 each - which is $150 for the set of 4. Now this isnt as cheap as what we had hoped to sell them but is about the same price as what Rangie Spares sells the caster correted bushes for which are made in similar small productions runs (our slotted are made by the same guy except we have made our own die). Should be able to just post them via Aust post and I will get the cost to do this next week.
So if you want them PM me and if you dont like them then I will give you your money back but IMO they do work very well both on and off road amd really free up the binding problem of the stock radius arm bushes. But just keep it on the quiet for now till I sort a few more things out.
