Just got myself a 2001 ,100 seriers.I am looking at putting a dual battery system in and am wondering what type you guys wouls suggest.Its mainly to run a waceo fridge freezer while camping and a fluro camp light,plus maybe a few other little things.
So far I have a price`s on (all with a constant power to the rear)
ARB smart system with a 10" battery ($900 ish fitted)
Piriana smart system with a 12" battery ($1000 ish fitted)
TJM Solinoid system ($500 ish fitted)
As you can see their is a big price diffrence,so which system would be the best. only looking at camping a few times a year,but being a auto cant clutch start it like my old Lux

there are a couple of questions you need to be clear on before you buy, like:
1. Why do you need a dual battery system and what do you want it to do?
2. How long do you plan on camping in one spot as this will have an effect on your choice?
3. What is your style of camping? i.e. do you want to run the fridge outside the car = portable auxillary battery???
4. do you have/want a winch?
If you are only going away a couple of times a year and only for a few days, and only running a fridge and lights, then the cheapest option would be upgrade your starting battery and then buy a quality jumpstart pack.
run your accessories off the upgraded car battery and then IF it goes flat you can jump start yourself. I would also suggest regardless of what system you chose (dual battery or upgraded start battery) that you run proper accessory plug to the back of your vehicle with thick wire and fuses/circuit breakers, as cig sockets are just not up to the job. Obviously how you answer the above questions will have a massive impact on what you decide to do, but i stress again that it is really important to know what you want the system to do.

I made a custom tray, bought a battery to fit the space I had and bought the Projecta dual battery kit from Supercheap Auto.
It works a treat so far switching on/off at the correct voltages and I couldn't be happier. They retail for about $99, for the solenoid controlling unit, wires and connections.
If you are quite handy, do it yourself and save some coin. This way if something comes up, you know exactly how it is wired etc.
Just fit the biggest battery you can Don't skimp on that.

This would have cost me under $900, not the easiest or the cheapest but seems to work very well
