road specific 33" tire

Post by 85lux »

i need a 33" tire to get a project car through a handling test to satisfy the engineer. he said an all terrain will not pass his test, must be road specific. so i'm chasing a 33x12.5x16. cooper do a road based all terrain but its not a full road tire. any ideas??

I don't think you can get a road tyre in a 33" for that width :?

Yeah you could get a light truck type tyre that's a 33", but they are cheesecutters generally.

Won't it need to pass with the tyres that you're going to run day in day out?

Why and how could an AT not pass? They are speed rated, load rated etc and legally allowed on the roads, come as standard issue on factory vehicles yet aren't good enough for a handling test :?

Not much in HT's. Here are about the most bitumen orientated 305/70R16. Maxxis don't do the MA-751 in a 305/70R16. I'll keep hunting.

he said he has tested cars on AT's before and they sometimes do not pass. the test is done on a large circle in a car park. he drives round the circle and gently accelerates and picks up speed till you either under or oversteer. he records the maximum acceleration before you started to under/oversteer. there is a figure you must beat. those mickey thompsons look good
also, the maxxis ma761
in LT305/70-16
it's still all-terrain, but looks like a road tire.
thanks for the help guys.
