GU Petrol to 4.2TD Swap

Post by benhl »

OK - i have tried searching but i'm after some specific info and need a GU guru to advise me on this. I'm looking at a GU Petrol TI (all the bells and whistles, leather and bling factors) and want to swap in a GU 4.2TDI crate motor.
Questions are:
Will the 4.2 bolt up to the TI auto box (for ease of daily wife duties)
Is it a simple case of new engine mounts, possibly a different bell housing or spacer or something, or is it a great deal more.
What other drama's am i going to face doing this proposed swa;p.

I'm just thinking for the right priced TI +$10K you can have a pretty trick, very low K's 4.2TDI with all the luxury, comfort and bling. = :D

Thanks Toyo to Nissan future convert!

the TD will bolt up to most boxes, but which GU rae you talkin about the 4.5 petrol?

Ozy I think it was said theree were some tricks and differences in the "straight boltup" not being as straight as..

There are always things you dont expect..

$10k for a crate motor? That wouldnt be complete with fuel pump, alternators etc etc and everything else, that would be a short motor + squillion in bits..

the mounts are in the same location if it is a 4.5l petrol. i think the main problem is a throttle position sensor for the injector pump for the auto computer
GU 42td wagon for touring
GU ute for the fun stuff

i seemed to remember about $7K for a crate motor with all ancillary bits in a post on here ages ago. Someone was selling them tuned up for racing/high boost etc. It could have been refurb ones, not sure...

anyone...

ALso was not fussed on the 4500 or the 4800 petrols :?:
