Comp Truck wanted
Hi All
Looking for a finshed or almost finsihed comp truck for OBC and other events, After a Nissan TD GQ/GU. Must be engineered. will even look at a wagon and cut it down or a good truck with a great engine. If you have something you want to sell at a realistic price, send me an email adam_craze@hotmail.com.
Please send photos. In Vic would be good but will look at anywhere.
cheers
Adam

Cheers mate, have looked at this one, all ok except for the steering, sootygu wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Nissan-Patrol-GQ ... dZViewItem
From what I understand, the hydraulic assist steering is not good for OBC and such events
thank you
that car isnt designed for the outback either...
wouldnt handle the high speed stuff let alone do high speed with the gearing....
whats your budget?

Yes I ruled that vehicle out a while ago, wouldn't cope on the drives in between stages. Budget will depend on the truck. Max is about $40k, but would need to be fairly good and ready to compete.

No where did he say he wants to win the OBC and just like street cars or anything for that matter,it dont matter how much someone spends or what the price thay have it advertised its only worth what someone will pay...blkmav wrote:As long as you have the other $60K to make it competitivecrazie wrote:Thats all there worth dude, no mater how much you spend on them. if he knows how to use a welder, and isnt looking at buying $30k DIFFS etc, then he would be able to build a very competitive truck for $40k
my truck owes me 12k atm
with another 28k it would be competative
front locker $1000
cab chop $2000
bigger turbo $3000
roll cage $1500
good winch $4000
still 16k to go
admittedly it wouldnt win but you would have to place reasonably n have a blast doing so

Correct me if im wrong people but i seem to remember a rangie owned by, is it Adrian Cauchie, is that right? Well it was very competitive last year at OBC and it was for sale not long ago for round the money you were looking to spend. Had King coil overs and a Ls1 engine.
I ought to report you to the f#cking RSPCA neville.
Re: comp truck wanted
Kurmit rangie is for sale but 50k... but could work out a deal..henry wrote:Correct me if im wrong people but i seem to remember a rangie owned by, is it Adrian Cauchie, is that right? 40k should get u something decent...
Alan mai turbo petrol middy is for sal 25k
Chunk (red gu ute in the OBC) GU ute is for sale turbo diesel ute, has kings on it and is around or under 40k
Also spending the coin on the truck doesnt always make it competitive many it does help to a degree but dont count on buying a truck with all the shit on it and expect to place if your a shit driver...

Re: comp truck wanted
You have to finish before you have a chance to win. Something I think some people miss.. they try and win on day 1.
Some people also expect to get their money back on comp trucks when they sell them. it just doesnt happen. Sad fact of competition machines in nearly all motor sport.
As others said, if you can't build a reasonably competitive truck for ballpak $40k theres something wrong. Yes others spend squillions, but lots of them fall apart long before finish line. Dont know if Ads can weld, but his mate Al surely can...
Ads, give Jason O a call, have a word to him. Maybe even start with one from Eric, and do it yourself.

Have spoken to Jason O a few times and I am avoiding the start from stractch, but if we have to we will, just means more time in the shed.
Re: comp truck wanted
As Adrian's navvie at last years OBC I can personally comment on Kurmit's set up and competitiveness.henry wrote:Correct me if im wrong people but i seem to remember a rangie owned by, is it Adrian Cauchie, is that right? The Rangie is extremely well set up and ideal for the OBC. Very fast and very capable. It was the first time we had teamed up and put the new and improved Kurmit through it's paces against the clock.
I was with it's power and the speed it could maintain without feeling out of control even though there was the odd white knuckle moment doing Brumbies and the mud runner stage
We placed 6th, made some mistakes and didn't really push hard in the rocky stages so with some competition experience together and in the vehicle we COULD POSSIBLY do better.
I don't really want to see him sell it as I'll lose my ride for next years OBC but it is a well set up vehicle
Re: comp truck wanted
sent you a pm with his details about it....crazie wrote:

this years or next years obc. You would be hard pressed to build one for 40K but i am sure you could buy a very good one for that. Mine owes me 60k and i would be hard pressed to save $5k if i did it again. thats no labour either, and with help from sponsors!
