Gday guys, hope you can help me here,
I own a 1987 75 series trayback. Yesterday while under the car checking on a gearbox oil leak, i removed the bash plate and upon removing the screw out of the hole about a cup and a half of river sand fell out.
I investigated more and have now relised that between a 1/4 and 1/2 of the chassis rail height is packed full of sand and mud and other shit.
Obviously the dickhead that owned it before me played hard in it and never bothered giving it a good bath afterwards. All the shit in there is slowly causing more and more rust so i need to get it out.
I have already shoved a hose downs its guts and unblocked all the draining holes and a lot of shit has come out but there is still a hell of a lot more in there. There is only limited access points where i can fit the nozzle of a hose and frankly it is pissing me off.
so the question is:
WHAT/HOW IS THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN OUT THE CHASSIS RAILS????
Is there some sort of chemicle that will break all the crap up? please peoples any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
CW

drive ur car up a slope or pic up one end wich ever is easyer to get a hose nozzle down. the put a high presure water blaster down one of the chasy railes and move from hole to hole untill it has all run out the low end.

hey..
i'm in the same position.. except its hardened mud that needs some major scraping to break up.. the chassis rails are full of it up to the holes in the side of the rails.. so i eagerly await any suggestions also..
As well as in the chassis rails, under the tub has a good few mm thick of mud/dirt....
would the truck wash, ct-18 be good for this ? I have a karcher from bunnings that i will give a spray..

those staun masojets are ment to be good for this stuff.
i spose when i have access to a $10,000 karcher at work not much in the way of mud or paint, hoses, rust proofing or anything for that mater can stand up to it, including feet.
still try what i said and perhaps get a heavy peice of wire or thin bar to stick down the rails to loosen it up a bit. but u realy ahve to get ur car on a decant angle for any to run out.

tried some of that ct-18 4x4 wash today.. gave the underside a good liberal spray and let it sit for 30mins.. came back at it with the karcher ($100 from bunnings) and it got rid of a heap of the junk on the accessible bits, right back to the tub.
even all the mud that was on the diffs came off after some slow high pressure treatment with the karcher..
gonna pour some down the chassis rails later on an see if that helps at all.. but yeh.. really need to be on a good angle so it all flows out..
