G'day
I am about to instal a snorkel to my td5 defender and rather than relocate the aerial was going to replace it with one that doesn't collapse down into the guard. I have looked in a couple of stores and typical sales staff have no clue about what they are selling. What is the reception like from the short rubber ones vs the longer spring base ones? Or the boosted spring base ones.
What have the rest of the defender owners done? Simply never put the standard aerial down?
I reckon that if I can't put it down it would last about five minutes... So are the rubber ones or the spring base the way to go? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Lyle

Radio aerials

Yeah I havn't installed the snorkel yet and looking at it the snorkel goes on the right and will have to go through right beneath the aerial. I am sure to that when I spoke to arb about install costs (a bit scary for me hence diy job) they also tack extra on the price for "relocation of oe aerial." I'm not keen on a second hole in the top of the front wing so a different aerial might be the way to go.
