Advice on buying products ? What do I do ?

Post by CWBYUP »

This isn't a bagging sesion as I'm not going to name which company this is but I need some advice on how handle this situation.

I was quoted $155- ea for some tyres fitted and balanced, So I dropped the rims off to get them fiitted, he has just rung me to say there ready and now he's trying to say he quoted me $195- ea.

I asked twice when he originally quoted me and wrote it down in my diary to work out cost of what I need to finish the zook.

What do I do ?

Its doing my head in so any help would be appreciated.

Tell him to remove them from the rims and put back the originals. Take them somewhere else to get it completed and try to recoup travelling cost related to his lying through Fair Trading. Make sure you let him know this is what you will be doing.

Just tell him to remove them, and go elsewhere as suggested.

or he might just simply go "oh ok, I thought you were someone else"

Did the tire you ask for get put onto the rims he could have put something else on them and that's the reason for higher price?

Basically yes.

He wanted a restocking fee for the tyres as he ordered them in specially, I wasnt paying it as it cheaper to just put up with the dearer price.

Nothing else was done to the tyres they were the ones I wanted he has just stuffed up the price and tried to blame it on me.

I will update you later in the day as a few things are going on with it still.

If he quoted you the wrong price its HIS fault... You don't have to pay ANYTHING! Let alone a 'restocking' fee.... sounds crook to me

Nah I'm 25, but I believe in Karma. I paid my money and walked away.

That arvo I was talking to a mate who is the manger a local smash repairs shop and told him about the s&$t fight i had with the tyre shop.

Within 24hrs of speaking to him I found out that 2 local smash repairs who were using them to do there wheel alingments and tyres have now told them to stick it and will be using differant shops.

It just so happens that both smash repairs are owned by the same family.

And the manger at the second shop is my mates brother.

I never asked them to do anything and when I was telling him about the shop in question I didn't even know that he used them.

I think the shop may be questioning the fact they skrewed me out of an extra $160- when they have now lost approx $1000- per week because of what happened.

Moral of the story, Make sure you get a written quote when asking for tryes.

And if your a shop be careful who you skrew around.

unless you have a writen quote or something to prove thats what he quoted you have very little chance, unfortunatly, while the day book is good and may go a long way, how can you prove that you didnt write the wrong price down?? but if it is a chain brand, going to head office may help, and threaten to name them on 4wd forums and they may well come to the party and pressure the indavidual as they need to protect the image of the chain
If the above post did not offend you in any way please PM me so I can try harder!!

At least ask him to meet you half way as you wouldnt have purchased them if the price was as he's trying to sting you for now.

I think CWBYUP stung him back a bit harder in the end with the lost work. I'd also name the tyre place. Word of mouth can do wonders and maybe he'll think twice next time.
