G'day all
Does anyone know of a fanbelt that would only run the power steering pump on my '78 Rangie which has a P76 motor, please? Would there be any detrimental effects by not having the aircon in line? I believe it still has gas in it, so I won't be taking it off, but I never use it...
Or... question 2, how do I fix the clutch on my aircon, as mine doesn't seem to click all the way out (ie. turns a bit, and then squeals under load), and I don't really understand how the clutch works? Can anyone help, please?
Thanx very much
Randal

Fanbelt to only run power steering and not the aircon
Moderator: Micka
clutch on the A/C is elctro magnetic so it need a power source to ativate it... get a multimeter onto it and makesure it has 12v..
it's not going to do any harm if you leave the busted a/c unit in the car with fan belt turning it... unless the clutch itself ceases then you are a little bit of poo
my 4 cents

I was thinking about this, Landy_Man, thanx.
Just have to get it degassed, but then I'm thinkin about the hot Kalgoorlie summer that we're gettin close to...
Thanx MickRangie, I am worried that it is starting to seize now with all the squealing its making... If I soak it with CRC would that damage anything?
The clutch still engages when I turn the aircon on, its just when I turn it off that it squeals...
Thanx

the CRC shouldn't damage anything but it wont fix the problem
maybe a relay or something is busted and the clutch is getting power when it shouldn't....
