What's wrong with it? Why do you say it's Dodgy?

And, for a new one, try $185 from Nissan. This is due to the fact that the Fuel Pick-up is incorporated into the Sender Unit. Priced one for a mate the other day. Regardless to say, we fixed it rather than replaced it! :)

There are 2 different types of fuel pickups in patrols. one is just a sender, one has a pump and sender.

The TB42S Pick-up incorporates a Pick-up and Sender (no pump) which is the one Nissan wanted $185 for.

I think the TB42E has a Pick-up pump

The TD42 is just the pick-up/sender combo

my unit was dodgy, sometimes it worked, then it wouldn't. I dropped out the tank and inspected the unit. The wire which is wrapped around the post inside the tank had snapped. I unraveled a couple of turns and twisted it back onto the post. Its been working like a dream for many years since...

might be of some help

cheers

Check copper contact strip is making contact with the small PC board on the fixed post. The plastic hinge wears causing it to loose contact when arm moves--ie fuel sloshing around..

I would be taking it out of the tank and just checking it all out. They are expensive to replace and you'll hate yourself if you buy a new one only to find that the PC Board Connection was a bit loose.

It's a 15 minute job, pull it out and check from there.
