Seeing good results after the CEM treatment.
Hey people.
Got a few of the CEM products the other day. Bought the FTC Decarbonizer, Cleanpower Fuel treatment, Antiwear Lubricant Assistant & the Oil Flush Concentrate.
So earlier today I put a dose of the FTC & Cleanpower into the tank (well the correct amount for the amount of remaining fuel), & a dose of the Antiwear into the engine, then took it for a run.
After it had warmed up & on the way out of town, it drove the same as it has done since I got it. Understandable as the products I'd added hadn't had time to do anything.
After about 15 kms, I started to notice a difference in the engine noise. It was quieter, so I let it slow down to about 80 kph, then put my foot down to bring it back up to 100 kph. Definately noticed it is not as loud as before, & the response is better. Turned around a couple of more Ks down the road, & yes, definately quieter, it's revving more freely & even better, it isn't blowing anywhere near as much black smoke as before. Also noticed I don't have to use as much throttle to get up to gear change revs, or maintain cruising speed.
The black smoke is also not appearing until the throttle pedal is closer to the floor. YAY Before, it would start smoking at about 1/2 to 2/3 throttle, but now it doesn't start until after 3/4 throttle & as I said before, it is not as black or as much of it. I am very happy with the results so far & was definately money well spent.
Now there's only the Oil Flush Concentrate to go, but after reading a few older posts about it & what it can do to higher Km engines (about 340K on mine?) I think I'll either give it a miss, or just use it sparingly (like 1/4 dosage) & do a few quick turnaround oil changes instead.

I fell for the advertising and bought the oil flush and diesel additive two years ago. Used both as recommended...the result- nothing or nothing I could notice anyway. IMHO it was a waste of $99- although mine was used on a 2.8 pajero diesel engine with only 130k kays- You may see some results on a high k gunked up diesel.

No, I don't want those & if you're trying to be smart save it for someone else.
But when I can see less smoke after adding these, I don't think it's just because I took it for another drive.

Mate i have never used the products so i cannot vouch either way. The only drama is your not really helping your case when you say its doing 100 revs less at 100kms. It is not possible at all unless you were in a higher gear.
In the same gear if a brand new motor is doing 2400rpm at 100km/h and old 1000000 km junker that you had to push start will be doing the exact same. Its all about gear ratios.
Unless of course your clutch was slipping and since fitting CEM it has stopped slipping. That would be a miracle!!!!!!!

This is just as probable as you being able to feel as much of an improvement in performance as you say you can just from using these products. If you had it on a dyno before and after then you could possibly see some gain in performance but your defianatly not going to feel it that much on road. Your going to need increases in performance by at least 10% before you can get that seat of the pants feeling. Ok all BS aside. The fact its not blowing as much smoke is possible that this product has cleaned the injectors to some extent. And this would also make it run a little smoother especially at idle. The anti wear in the engine would have done very little to performance if any at all however if it is a good product it should lengthen the life of the engine.drifter wrote:Hey people.

My first comment was only taking the piss. But there is no possibility that you are doing 100 RPM less at 100ks as revs at a certain speed has nothing to do with performance,HP or engine size. You could fit a lawn mover engine and its still going to do the same amount of revolutions at any given speed as the engine you currently have.
The only reason i made the original comment is because it usually takes a couple of tank fulls of any similar product before there is any noticable change to performance or economy. But from the sound of your reply you had only driven a few Ks.

I did have the truck idling for a while before I took it out, but it definately is going better & not so noisy than it was yesterday arvo. Like I said in my other post, maybe this motor is better than I thought, & it just had a bit of crap in an injector or two or whatever.

I just tried it in an old work hack 2.8d hilux I would like to say it made a big difference but honestly it didnt do that much it did stop it from smoking as much though wich was a major drama with the poor old girl and gave me a little better power down low but didnt help with the chronic overheating problem that my engine had.
My 2H used injector cleaner all its life and it never blew any black smoke ever. Post rebuild it blows a little black smoke now, but that just means i need to play a bit more with the fuel setting.
As far as noticing the effects of these additives straight away, im sorry but i dont believe it. As ruff said, any noticable performance change is going to need to be 5-10% which is not possible IMO, especially not before a good thousand k's of the stuff cleaning the engine internals.
The 100rpm less at 100k's comment completely discredited your whole post and showed that you dont have a good enough understanding of the mechanics of your engine to be a reliable advocate of any engine additive. (dont mean this to be mean).
