Toyota front shaft flange differences?
I'm trying to work out the cheapest way to replace the exxy modified IFS front driveshaft I just destroyed.
I'm running the standard 4runner transfer (chain driven) and the standard Lux front diff.
I have a mate with a spare 80 series shaft, I don't suppose it will fit? I doubt the 80 series and Hilux have the same flange, but I'm hoping the 4Runner might share big brothers output flange?

Hey mate, I just picked up a complete spare diff, housing etc for my 45 last week and it came with a multi yolk/flange. It's got about 3 stud patterns on it. Sorry I don't want to give this one up but just letting you know they are out there. I will try get hold of the fella I got it off and see if he knows where you can get them.
why dont you run the 80 shaft with the hilux flanges. get the two uni from the 80 and hilux and take them to a bearing place as tell them that you want one unito suit the flange and shaft they can measure it up there might not be one aviable but its worth a try.

Soooo, does anyone one know if the 80 front drive shaft will fit into a lifted 4runner??? Mates front driveshaft keeps detaching at the slip yolk everytime he hits a bump... absolutely no play in it now.... and a drive shaft spacer won't be enough we don't think.
Just thought that if the 80 series run the same front diff as a hilux/4runner, they'd prob be that bit longer being a bigger truck and the g'box/transfer would be set further back and the same bolt pattern at the diff end??
Thoughts anyone??? Or what do you guys run for a front driveshaft for about a 5inch lifted lux/4runner????

When in doubt..... UTE-ERIZE it!!!
So would the 80 front shaft fit into the 4runner??? Even if it did have the DC joint?? Just need to match up the bolt pattern.dow50r wrote:the diffs on 80 and lux r thesame, but the gearbox end isnt...actually, the gearbox end is thesame as lux rear double cardon shaft if that helps
If not what are guys using for lifted lux/4runners in the front shaft. Not really keen on spending $$$ to chop, modify, weld, and balance a makeshift shaft. Was hoping on a bolt up front shaft without toooo many dramas.
Cheers.
