GU trailing arm length.
GU trailing arm length.
Im looking to building my own Long arm system for the rear of my TJ after ive minced the factory brackets.
ive been thinking that the rear lower arm of a GU are probably around the length i need......im guessing that they are about 700mm from eye to eye.
1. could someone tell the the length of the factory lowers the rear of a GU from eye to eye.
2. those with the snake racing or superior engineering adjustable arms could you please tell me how much adjustment there is.....ie 700 + / - 30mm.
cheers.

Go out and grab yourself a Rubicon or Skyjacker long arm kit or something similar. You may pay more for it in the beginning but you will have a better kit long term, and you dont have to do the research and development yourself. We have done several long arm kits in the past, thay come with everything. Think about WARRANTY also.

mmmmmmmmm..............no i don't have that sort of money. besides im all ready sitting high enough, i just want to long arm or a-frame the rear only........but thanks for the reply anyway. And warranty, probablt not the way i treat my car.

cheers mate.....at this stage im thinking that i can use factory GU trailing arms for my 4 link lowers.....(im sure i can pick up a set on outers from some one who's already gone to thirds) and i may have to get the uppers manufactured depending whether i go with an A-frame or not.....leaning towards a frame so i can loose the rear panard.

OK, looks like the factory ones may be a bit weak.......perhaps not for a TJ as it would be half the weight of a patrol on them, however i may look at using 3rds production or superior engineering as mentioned before.
Edit.
just tried (again) giving superior eng. a call......are they still in business or have a changed their number from what is printed in 4WDM mag?

yep i was told that one of the eyes is 8 degrees off, rubicon Express rear arms have one eye offset as well to allow for clearance around the rear diff axle mounting bracket.
im assuming there the same thing so i don't see it as a problem.......if theres a picture that someone has i could tell.

You could try to pm fatassgq as he works for superior and should be able to give you any info you need as he's got a gq & gu.
If you dont have any luck there try superiorengineering.com.au as they have most of there gear with prices.
Badger is correct, superior are always busy so keep trying as they almost always have the arms in stock.[/u]
