GU Patrol, best model?

Post by Jenko75 »

I am thinking about purchasing a gu patrol just wanted some opinions on the best models to suit my needs.
I have a HJ75 ute, but have a baby on the way, so need more sets.
I am a sparky so need the space of a wagon for work. But for play, I plan to do some serious off-road weekends away and am a fan of diesels, I am a toyota man about to make the change so be nice please.

Also will my 35" simex ET 2's on 15x10's fit a gu or do I sell them with the 75 ute?

Cheers Paul.
HJ75 Ute, 2"spring, 2"skackle, 2"Body, 35" simex Et's, uhf, warn 8000, rear locker so far.

The 35's should fit, but you would want to stick at least 2" suspension under it just for a bit of extra clearance.

Id keep em, the simexit will make your GU an absolute weapon..

What about the 15" part I know they go on gq's but wasn't sure about gu calipers with 15" rims?

Thanks people. Maybe be looking at GU wagon 4 to 5 years old can anyone confirm that 15 x 10's would fit?
Also if models this age are a good choice or had any problems in petrol or diesel / turbo diesel?

Are the 3.0td any good for serious offroading with 35's or should he be looking at the 4.2td only, and why.

For decent clearance with 35's and no swaybars is 2" lift enough or is 4"-5" better? Much involved in lifting GU's 4-5"? Are they much the same as the GQ's?

Another option is 2" susp and 2" body lift. What are your suggestions?

with airbags body lift can be a problem with dot, suspension is all the same as gq n 10" rims will fit, also I would recomend 4.2 turbo deisel or non turbo then put turbo on it 3 litres have crap clutches n short life span in compareson also have no torqe when off booste
