Hilux Recovery Points?

Post by danos »

Do Hilux's have designated recovery points in the front and back?

I have a 98 IFS and I had to snatch from the towbar in the back and the large metal bar in the middle of the car that connects the left and right lower control arms in the front.

I dont have a manual that specifies tow points.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Im guessing ill have to grab some tow hooks to install?

Figured it out if anyone cares. Tow hook for the front, attaches using the bullbar mount.

Remove the towball for the back and attach a shakle or undo the pin, slide the hole towball peice out and put the snatch in and secure it with the pin.

You can also go under the mian peice of tow bar and then put the loop over the tounge of the tow bar and i wouldn't pull to hard on the tow bar if it's only stock/hayman reece one as a mate of mine seen one pull or sheer the bolts off and hit the front of a gq ute and total it's bar half a foot higher and the driver wouldn't have much of a chance :bad-words: best bet is get some after market hooks and bolt them to chassis through a strong point always use high tensile bolts and good size washers if i get a chance i'll take some pic's of mine tuesday night and post them up
plenty of parts on the bench
