turboglide in wollongong offer a cast manifold to suit a gt30r turbo as on the xr6...then you need an intercooler and away you go...thats if your motor is 95 or better, if its earlier, then you need somethink like a unichip.
They make 240kw at 5000rpm with 6 psi, (540nm) thats 320 hp...which means 80-140 in 5 seconds :) and some very pissed off people back at the lights.

Andrew how reliable are they set up this way? And why is the 95+ motor ok but the earlier is not?

one of my mates is currently doing this on an 80s 4.5. he got it with a safari kit on it and he hated it so now it gets a new computer, inj, ect.... should be finished this week so i'll let u know how it goes. it was still fast with the safari kit just ran rough, had a massive flat spot, wasn't decomped and only ran 4psi. oh yeah, it pre detonated all the time untill a piston broke.

those safari kits have two extra injectors in the manifold to cope with the need for fuel instead of up grading injectors and pump. cheap way of doing it and doesn't work well either.

Nope, that's the price the AVO guy in Australia told me, but it wouldn't be the first time I've been stuffed around

i am not still totally convinced on the extra injectors. I still think it's better to get the right injectors in the first place imo. I'm looking at options.

Guys
The 95 plus injection has an air mass meter that can cope with the extra flow and adjust accordingly. So its bolt on and go. Earlier flow meter 4.5's go 100% at 1psi, so you have to run them rich with extra injection and rely on the oxygen sensor signal to back off injecter duty cycle. The 4.5 is reliable with the turbo up to 10 psi, its a copy of the 7mgte motor if you look at them both....there is a guy campayning a 2 door crown in Adelaide that runs 10 second quarters with a 4.5 turbo auto in it....296 rear wheel kw's and it is std running 18 psi from a Trust T7, home made exhaust extracter manifold, accross the front intercooler, and throttle body where the std battery goes on a special manifold. He runs GTR injecters and rising rate fuel pressure reg.
Lastly, if your 4.5 t detonates, it is running lean, and will crack pistons faster than looking at them....mine went up to 850 egt when the pump shat itself....get two pumps in line happening to supply fuel.
Lastly, theres no reason why you cant get out of this for under 4k if you do the work yourself.

Seans "Supercrown" finally went bang, at 520rwkw, thru an A340 auto. This is after nearly 4 years in turbocharged guise. The motor is bone stock factory built, apart from O-ringed head and head stud kit. Turbo is a massive TA45, running 26psi, and NOS when it put a leg out of bed. He is now building a motor for 700+rwkw.

 there is absolutely nothing any of us can say about these 4.5's with hair dryers that will explain how big a balls they have....i absolutely loved flooring my auto one at 80km/hr, kickback to second-up to 5000 in two seconds, then 3rd at about 130km/hr and you are backing off by then... if you have the time, go to airpowersystems.com.au and download the vid of the 5.7 twin intercooled turbo holden ute doing its 9 second quarter....

did think about the blower idea but after a mate of mine did it to his vn ss all it would do was throw belts.

dont know if it was his workmanship but he did change a few things like belts and pullies lineing up but never did get it rite. at about a hundred bucks a belt its a bit of a turn off.

how would the belt go in the way of dirt/mud/water/4wd?

thanks ;)

Superchargers and mud go ok, a couple of the top winch cars run them with no prob's , not to mention Rohan Canavan who won the 06 OBC which has some serious mud stages.
