Hysteer arms

Post by hophoar »

Can anyone tell who has Hysteer/crossover arms and TR,DL in stock, perferably @ Sydney. I'm getting pi$$ed off with being told that there on their way and we'll have them in a couple of days. Why can't people just say that they don't have any and don't know when they'll have any in stock. Ordered a fan kit from Marks the other day and a couple of days later they at least rang to say they didn't have the waterpump pully and it would be @ a week later.
Sorry I just get pi$$ed off with people who promise one thing and then don't deliver.

Thanks Guys, Just needed to vent my frustration. Have been waiting on Chaos crossover arms or Rhino's hysteer . I want to sort my steering out before I go away after Xmas ( towing a trailer ), at present I'm running with a flipped arm and a bootie fabbed draglink. Talk about scary steering

So who have you ordered them through? Cause Chaos as far as i am aware dont make them to suit a leaf sprung vehicle and Snake racing has been telling his customers they will be ready next week since a fortnight before TTC.
I know Chaos have been working on making them but haven't finished a saleable product yet. Hopefully they will come through with them soon.

Just so we know, have both these companies been telling you the same thing or just one?

Chaos are making a crossover steering arm, abit like allpros. According to Lochlan they were to have 10 ready by xmas, last time I checked the company who was doing the job had handed it over to someone else as the original person had gone on holiday.
As far as Rhino goes it was a case of yeah there just off being stamped so should have the after Woodpecker, then it's : I'm just waiting for a courier to go collect them.
I rang mannell's last week and he said he was expecting them last Wednesday. Rang Nick again today and he was still chasing them up, he has a clients truck that's waiting for them who wants to go away over the holidays.
Thought about seeing if I could get an Allpro arm sent over tonight, might send them an email and see what happens.

I emailed Sky manufacturing in the US last week and they can do RHD steering arms. http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/ Do not know about cost etc. I haven't looked into it further.

Might be another option. Maybe we can get a few sets done to reduce the costs ????

Let us know if anyone is ordering some arms from the states. Obvioulsy price is important though but I'm sure we'd be able to get at leat a few buyers - I'd be up for one set. As far as I know, snakes arms are no good for my application anyway. I don't know what chaos is planning but it seems that the sky manufacturing ones will work. Let's get this happening!

try Brett Grinrod from C.O.R.E he was talking about doing them him self a couple of months back. They were going to be full investment cast units. Don't know if he has got any futher yet but he was saying that his will be even better than snakes and cheaper.

We are looking into making them The hardest thing to get right is to make the arms height right so that it can be used on most lifts. We looked a Snakes but on Daves 4-Runner the drag link would have hit the rail with 2-3 inches of up travel left.
Unfortunately I can tell you when they will be ready(definately not before Xmas.
Hopoar we have the taps if you want to make a solid drage link before you go away to ease your worrie. We can also make a flipped arm that won't break or twist.Dave has run it on his Runner for over a year with no trouble.

Sam, I'll give you a ring in a day or so, I'm definately interested in a DL and the flipped arm. Would rather spend my money here supporting local companies than sending it OS, how else are we going to get them to give us what we want .

AOR or OTT in the states do RHD hi-steer arms. They are $ though. 345USD for the arms compared to $199USD for the all-pro arms. All-pro don't do RHD arms though, Or they didn't when I enquired about them ~18 months ago.
Chris geiger from all-pro is on this board, hammer him about making RHD arms. They could probably make alot of dollars out of it, since you can't realistically get them in aus from what I hear..

Ok, I had spoken with Chaos earlier this morning and it looks like there back to scratch, Lochlan has a meeting with the guys doing their arms so that doesn't seem to good for xmas time.
On the other hand I had a call from Rhino about an hour ago , although he wasn't happy about being bagged on the board he has said that he will have my arms this week.

and its hard to make then better than snakes??

I personally think that the best thing to do is get people interested in C.O.R.E and then approach brett about it, in the mean time get a price on 10 sets from sky. That way if it falls through with brett atleast we can switch to plan B. I know that the hardest this with making the arms is the backing, what if he makes them and cant sell them, he is 5 grand out of pocket. If we can go to him and say that we want this amount of arms and are prepared to wait, honestly it would be quicker than waiting for snakes he is going to be more likely to do it.

As far as getting them in from the US goes the arms are pretty heavy there for general mail of 10 sets is going to be a joke on price and UPS wont ship them cause they would be over 30 pounds....this leads to surfers mail on a cargo ship where you must pay for a minium of 1 cubic meter (280 AUS$$) plus 150 to clear it as customs plus 18 percent GST, sure that might sound like alot, but take into account the fact that the arms are probably going to be $500 australian...so.....

the arms 5000
shiping 280
clearance 150
GST 900

TOTAL 6330

now take that by 10 and each person will pay around the $630 mark if the arms are 500 australian, the more people that are in the cheaper it will get, but then are we better to offer brett 6000 for 10 sets and see what he says, with brett we would get the back up and after market etc.

I think before you can approch anyone you need to know with out a doubt how many people you have to buy them. Its no good telling someone you want 10 sets then when they are made you find only 5 guys realy wanted them.
I think if everyone were to come up with say $300 each up front you may get some interest then.

Details are too sketchy yet to give up some $$$. For most people, the decision will be largely influenced by price and an estimate needs to be established first. Personally, I don't even know if high steer will work with my setup so I'd have to sort that out first. We need to see if Brett is really interested in offering this service. If he can guarantee that they will work with my setup, they I will definately be very interested - depending on price. Lets hope that something does come of it though.

On a side note - has anybody obtained an engineers certificate for histeer?

No I haven't got high steer arms, just flipped arm.

I was waiting for Rhino to email me engineering reports he promised me in June  So I could see if I can get them engineered in WA. But I do not have a hope in hell of seeing the Reports or Arms  If he didn't want to give this info out he should have said so!! I was actually enquiring about these arms this time last year and I am still no closer. This was the reason I did a welded arm. I would have bought them last year If I could have got them!!!

So I will be looking elsewhere for them now!

snake says that my posts are out of line!!
he has rung me on the issue, i will get my products by the end of the week, is what he told me yesterday

i think i have been very very considerate, considering having already paid and WAITED this long!!

although he asked me to correct what i said, he claims i didnt pay for my 2 sets of high steering arms until APRIL! which is 4 months less than what i stated, i cant remember but i will find out off my bank!

i also paid for them, before he had them made, and got them for $500 each, as i was buying TWO pairs of them, and this was right when he got the first lot done and so at the time, he was doing them cheaper to get some interest, and sell a few to offset the initial costs of the moulds!

so to disclaim on what i said earlier, i did not pay top dollar! Nor have i been waiting anywhere near a year for them!

read on pirate what happens when the vendors are slack, the guys rip into them until its solved, i think i have been very considerate, all things considered, just waiting for the products!
