Bilstein Shocks - Where are they cheapest?

I need some new shock for the Disco. It's only used as a tourer nowdays so i though I would try Bilsteins. I did want Edelbrocks but apparently you cant get them for the D2.

Anyway, does anyone know of any retailers that have good prices for the Bilsteins to suit a 2" lift on a Disco 2?

Have a look at www.lrexpert.com.au/ (Graeme Cooper). Seem to recall he had them at a good price.

I didn't think that Bilstein actually made shocks to suit a 2" lift. From what I recall, their length is designed for standard height suspension. Of course, this is all second hand knowledge so don't know if it correct.

Of course there is always the option of the LRA Bilsteins.

Thanks everyone, I have rung around a few places and everyone seems to be within a couple of dollars of each other. About $230/shock for 50mm raised suspension.

Glen, Bilstein do now make a slightly longer shock for the D2 with a 2" lift. There are no mods needed to the shock mounts as it has almost the same closed length but a slightly longer extended length and the same valving as the HD standard shock.

Don't mean to highjack the thread but could someone please explain the difference between a standard shock and one for a spring lift.
If the shock mounts remain the same then the length of the shock remains the same.
Valving can change in compression and rebound, according to the load being carried and spring rate but this has no correspondance to spring length.
Am i missing something.

depending on how well the shock has been set for that spring lift, it is slightly longer all round, so it doesn't "top out" before the spring reaches the end of its reach so to speak.

From what I can work out there are some fairly large tolerances allowed in both the overall length and the internal length of any OEM shock. This means that the shock can actually be slightly longer compressed without bottoming out and can also be a fair bit longer extended than standard shock.

So from my understanding the Bilstein for a 2" spring lift is a little bit longer than standard when compressed (but still wont bottom out using existing shock mounts and bumpstops) and a bit longer again when extended.

The rocket taxi is going soon, it will be a sad day when it goes.

But now that the Disco is on gas I am using it as my work car and the wife now wants a convertable. I really have to do what she wants since she has let me have the Disco and 2 Rangies.
