H260 diff. Spline count?

Post by Mario »

Well mates, I´ve learned to identify both the H233B and H260. Now I understand there´s 2 versions of the H260 (according to the ARB catalog), the 34 spline and the 37 spline ones. Is it possible to visually identify the 34 from the 37 spline ones just by lookling at the axle? Do the 37 splines are all full floaters? Because I saw a 3.0 GU wit semi floater H260.

Please advise,

Full floating versions of the H260 came out in some versions of Cabstar trucks--easy to identify as the Hubs/stub axles are bigger than the full floating version used only in the GU utes/cab chassis. All other H260's used were semi floating including the G60 and MQ/MK utes. I think the 34 spline version only came out in some versions of MK utes....Turbo diesel maybe.. :?:

So you can find 37 splines H260s both semi and full-floating ?

H260 was semi floating in all Patrols prior to the GU The full floating version in the GU still uses 37 spline 1.5" dia axles, but they taper down a fair bit at the stub axle end. I guess this is due to the ID of the stub axle. The Cabstar truck H260 has much bigger stub axles(the axle shafts dont taper down like the patrol and are 1.5" diff to hub) and correspondingly bigger hubs. But its stud pattern is very different to the 6 stud found on the Patrol.

So they only way to tell a 34 spliner from a 37 is disasembing it? There's no mark or sign (or special characteristic) to look for?

The Cabstar truck is the pick up truck?
