Marks 4wd adaptors do a converted dyna truck gearbox.
Its suposed to be strong and has a nice low first.
Costs a few $ though.

You want an R series box (R150, R151, R154). These come in later model Supra's and sum v6 4runners. They also come in other toyota vehicles. They did come in turbo pertol hilux's, but we did not see them here in OZ.

Have a look at http://www.marlincrawler.com/ or http://members.iinet.net.au/~ozrunner/ProjectsIndex.html he has put a R154 in his 4runner behind a HO 5.0lt. But these have a higher first gear then the R150 and R151 boxes.

If you go down that route then you need to get an adaptor to adapt the gear driven t/case to the box. You can get an adapter from http://www.marlincrawler.com/.

I believe the W series boxes that come behind an older supra (ie w57 or w58) will be the same strength as a hilux w56 box which is margianly stronger then a g52. So I do not consider these boxes as an upgrade. BTW I use a standard hilux w56 box behind my 5.0lt efi 4runner.

If you want a stronger box get Marks HD box or a R series box.

The R154 is currently available here in OZ,
Youll find it in the current Hilux, but only in the 5VZ and the 1KZ powered versions (V6 and Turbo Diesel).
The 5L-E still uses the G52.

There is also a gen 4 W58 which is supposed to be much stronger than the normal W58, which i know a lot of people who use them behind some strong motors, one i know of is behind a 2JZ-GTE and another is behind a twin turbo 1UZ-FE.

I think they are about as strong as a R150, but i dont know about the gear ratios.
