hi um i need to get a engenearing (spelling)? cirtificate for my blue slip and the bloke im getting it of whats to know the meta to metal bump stop on a fj40..iv bean on soo many sites its not even funny anymore ..if any one could help me out i would greatly appreciate it.

got a picture mate? from memory they are all rubber, just glue a bit of rubber in there and send it back down.

oh ok then...when a shorty is stock dose the rubber bump thingy sit on the metal below it of dose it sit above it?

it should sit below it as in that pic..

when the diff moves up and compresses, the bump stop stops the diff instead of the shock stopping the diff (cos teh shock can only compress so far).. .. so for all bumpstops front/rear they have the rubber on the end... i think the rear has the metal bit so that its lower cos the chassis curls up..

either way it should go (top to bottom):
[chassis rail]
(maybe bracket)
[rubber bumpstop]
(nothing)
[diff]

also it should have some clearance there when sitting on flat ground, a couple inches at least

unless like me you have an old mq where the rear bumstop sits on the top leaf :P top leaf curls up a LONG way from the rest of the pack to sit on it, gives a realy nice HARSH ride and sweet fa flex, but carries a load like nobodies business :P
