difference between t-cases, NOW GETTING A 1JZGTE TT SWAP.

Post by mud4b »

does anyone positively know if there is any differences between the gq/gu 4.2 and 2.8 diesel input shafts on the t-case?

even gq 4.2 to gq 2.8 or gu4.2 to gu 2.8..

looking at doing a engine swap (if things do not go to plan with the parting out/ selling for cheap gu)to a 1jzgte twin turbo if i can work this out before removing my 2.8 gu t-case to machine the input shaft to suit the auto output shaft on the 1jz..

thanks mark.

im just about finished a 2.8 TD conversion to a 4.2 petrol in a GQ wagon from the info i got there is no difference except a seal in the extension housing apparently the 2.8L doesnt have one and the extension housing fills with oil, i was goin to change just the gear box but turned out easier for me to buy second hand box and transfer and sell the 2.8 box and transfer came out even.

correct wjen we did an engine conversion on my old mans GU, we found the same as above,
but you can swap over front cover of the transfer so you have the right setup and sea for your gear box, we did this,

very interresting..

im ripping the 2.8 out tomorrow and fitting a 1jzgte twin turbo into its place..

fawking over spending the money on this 2.8..

just had a new turbo for it at $1590.00
and the injectors reco (5 reco/ 1st injector electric sensor new) at $600.00

now tonight had it on the puter hookup plus many other things and the injector pump needs rebuilding at a cost of $1150 to $2000..

just not worth it for a 2.8 in my books.. so its getting sold..
