last step to a better pajero?
ok how much for a sas swap? and who would do it in brisbane? im looking for better articulation and a better ride. what hight would i go is there much difrence in price from a 3inch to a 4inch? thinking if i go the 4 taking the body lift out. really wana do this mod loking at spending $6000-8000. what are the pros and cons of doing this will it make the pajero lose value if i did have to sell? is it better to get a hilux axel, gq coils and stuff fist?

im probably going to be caned for saying this but....
if i had a 4wd and $6k to $8k to spend..
id buy an 80s series cruiser, for what $11k, and jam a 5" lift on it, some 34-35" tyres and your set.
their comfy, look nice, have great gearing, can get lockers for the same price as any other fourbs, and well.. they have SAS standard, no need for engineering or modification, and if you ever consider resale, i dont think anyones going to ever pay the price you fork for your modification.
sorry for saying this :S
ive spent over $80k on my sportscar which i ended up only getting $35k for :S - i shoulda started with an $80k car in the first place

the only problem is ill haveto fork out another 5 k wich i dont have and some more for the 4-5 inch lift. the resale valeu for my car isent that crash hot at the moment enyway i could pick one up for aslittle as 1-3. wich makes me think if i roll my car by chance it wont be as hard getting a doner shell for it cheap! preferably a swb to chop into a ute but it dosent sound like enyones reall keen to do it eather wich makes it hard. mit have to go a sas 4x4 wich would suck because my pajero is a comfey car
but thanks for your impot.

There are a few that have done it mate. See Bitsamissin's posts, there is also another thread somewhere on here that explains the process.
In the members rigs section there is a thread from a guy from Thailand (first few pages) with links to one of his trips. You should see the number of our model pajeros with SAS... edit: Links no longer work - but I can send you some pics. I saved quite a few onto my laptop.
There is also an ad that always pops up in my 4wd monthly magazines that advertise SAS for pajeros.
Sorry my post isnt terribly specific, I just didnt want you loosing interest. Dont give up just because some people say you are crazy or wasting your money. Pajeros look unreral with a SAS. Keep up with the research.

Hey mate, the ad in the 4wd Mag I have is for ORI (offroadindustries.com). I would assume they deal with SAS because there is a NH SWB pajero with one on the ad. If not, im sure they would know where to go.
Attached are a couple of pics from Thailand. I thought I had more but the others I has were not SAS, only body lifted.

i think the diffs to use would be jeep/dana front diffs as they are on the right side all ready.
and i think a s.a.s is ilegal in qld. as i have inquired about this before.

ORI did do a SAS on a shorty NH. It was hella cool and there is a thread on here about it somewhere. They used airbags in the front so it could adjust it's approach angle. IIRC it had a 5 link and a hilux diff.awbeattie381 wrote:Hey mate, the ad in the 4wd Mag I have is for ORI (offroadindustries.com). I think they have closed down now though, as far as the workshop goes. They still sell their products though like the steering arms and IFS Spacers. Overkill Engineering did my SAS.

that would be good mate. this is the only snag at the moment. but a mod plate dosent always mean its legal dose it? mite help out on the street but if you have to get it re regesterd or have to produce your car to department of transport your screwd?

That they are, but they're also 5 stud wheels, and more expensive for parts than a toyota diff. Mine & Frank's have toyota's that were 'cut and flipped'.known 2 wrote:i think the diffs to use would be jeep/dana front diffs as they are on the right side all ready.

A mod plate from a legitimate engineer makes your vehicle legal - it has been inspected in accordance with the requirements, and found to comply. It should work with the DOT staff, but is no guarantee against an ignorant copper with a chip on his/her shoulder.
the people that supply the mod plate are approved by qld tpt so it gives you an argument it also comes with a certificate on qld tpt suplied paperwok which by law has to be kept with the car while its registerd i keep mine with my mods i have never had to produce them but i agree with scott get that person behind the counter they find any reason they can to stuff you around
