60 diffs / torque bar in a 40

Post by kranked_dirt »

G'day, had a quick search but couldnt find what im looking for... I'm putting 60 diffs under my 40 and keeping it SUA. I also want to put a torque bar in the rear to keep everything solid and the pinion from moving. My problem is i have an 81 FJ40 with the fuel tank under the body, and i can't see where i can put a crossmember in to mount the bar to (see pics)... as the fuel tank is in the way.

has any one done this in a late model SWB 40 that can give me some advice??

Cheers,

Adam.

I never have had any damage to my springs

But after adding the torque bar there was o lot more power to the ground and no vibration when spinning the wheels in wet or slippery conditions

Thanks for the ideas guys, that gives me a few things to work off. I had a look at ih8mud last night and saw alot of cool ideas there as well - a few people were mounting them off a beefy bash plate under the transfer, this may be an idea as well since i want to make a bash plate up
