Gday Kev
BUGGER What bent? the shaft looks straight, was it the teeth of the shaft that twisted, or the reduced diameter to the spline at the end?
Solid steel will twist easier than hollow pipe bend.
Presume your tyres are larger than normal aswell, it all adds up to more stress on something....(usually the wallet)
Andrew
I would say that it would be ok to road or soft offroad, but be careful as it will be weaker now that it has a bend in it and may bend more or crack......

The shaft twisted at the spline end (at the botom) were the pitman arm bolts on, doesn't realy show it in the pic but uploaded it anyway to give you an idea of what im talking about.

I have 35" muds, i was hoping the "something" would be a tierod or similar.
Guts, apparently it is a common problem with the 80 series even with standard tyres, so i have just found out

Mayby its about knowing your vehicals limits & try not to push them, i did a practice run for the T/ville ASCC today & tried to take it easy with the steering.
Slowhilux, don't worry, you'll know when your pushing it to hard so its beter to just back off abit.
