Hi guys probably ask heaps of times, but, doing a body swap ,GQ wagon to dual cab conversion.Just wondering if when the is body off ,can u do engine swap or will body not fit over V8 or is it best to have body on first.
Also any info or help on doing the V8 conversion would be great , going to use VN 5LT to 5 Speed box, going to use Marks Adaptors stuff. Also if anyone was near me (sthn end Gold Coast ) who's done the V8 conversion any chance of having a look would be great. Was going to do Chev V8 diesel but motor fell thru deal .Any info would be great.Thanx heaps.
you just have to be a lil more cautious of your firewall/inner gaurd clearances, which I think i remember reading people have had (memory's fuzzy) someone that has actually done the conversion will give ya a lil more help.
Might wait till body is back on just in case, don't want
to scatch paint work also just wondering which kit is better Marks
or Dellows , have heard with Dellows u have to mod. the firewall
with some kits but are cheaper I think.
I reaconmend doing it with the body off. I'm just finishing a VH45 conversion. The motor is running and can drive it just need to do final things and get it on the dyno.
To start with you need to find out where the motor will sit but if using a kit it should be pretty straight foward. I had to shift body back 75mm to clear firewall, so my body was on and off a few times getting things sorted.
