Upgrading winch motor on 12 000lb

Post by GQ Toy »

Is there any way to find out what size motor is on my winch already - Sn. 672369.
Would it be worth upgrading to the 6hp motor or would there be issues with cable breakage. Searching found info on the 10000lb but not 12. There is space in the bar to fit the longer motor.

Will be going onto a GQ tourer with camper trailer

just put a 6hp...

Just because its higher rated motor doesnt mean it will snap cables.

The 6hp wont be working as hard so in my opinion would be a good choice as you wont burn out solenoids or put as much stress on the motor provided your doing simalar winches as you did with the 4.6hp motor...
