Lock up switch

Post by lexi »

Following this link. http://members.bettanet.net.au/~conody/ ... Switch.htm

I am going to fit a simplified version. The dude tells you which wire goes from Ecu to lock up solenoid for a GU. I have a GQ TD42 which has Aus spec rather than a UK one.

My ECU at the passenger kick panel is a flattish rectangular box. It has Hitachi on it. Haynes manual has nothing in wiring section..

Anyone know the colour code of the wire from ECU to lock up solonoid.

I will get under truck and see if I can find the solenoid and check the colours.
Thanks Alex

According to the workshop manual....it is terminal no 22 on the SMALL connector plug on the A/T control unit. The colour of the wire at this terminal connection is GREY/RED. This wire goes down to a female/male connector on side of box...it changes to a blue wire into box.
HTH.

Damn...thort we had a winner there :?
Terminal 21 goes to overun clutch solenoid...and is a Pink/blue wire.
looks like a bit of studying and testing is needed....maybe yu could take a reading with multimeter while statioary ....and then see wot it says when auto goes into lockup out on road...buggered if i know now tho.Funny that it seems different just coz it from nuther country hey.

Thanks for reply mate....It`s gotta be there somewhere. I`ll set up all the connections, switch and relay so that it just has to be found and plugged into relay when the info comes to light. Never be beat :D

If anyone has any ideas it`s a Nissan ETC N85 control unit. Is this the same type as you guys Y60 TD42 Autos. I take it you all have the Power Auto hold rocker switch on the console?

Keith or anyone else have a drawing of the autobox showing the solenoid positions. If i can locate the solenoid I can splice into it there or trace it back to Ecu.

Still stuck on this TCU thing guys. Have tried Nissan Uk Nissan Europe all with no luck. Unable to get a wiring diagram as model was supplied to Cyprus. Spoke to the auto specialists who do Nissan warranty work on auto boxes. They told me what they would have to do in the same situation.

Remove auto sump pan and check solenoid wire for continuity back to contol unit. Which solenoid? Anyone have a drawing of TD42auto box with Lock-up solenoid position? I think there are about four or five solenoids in box.

Any help appreciated

As above.....there is a connector on the side of tranny sumwhere.....the harness from this is a blue wire into box for paticular solinoid yu want...try disconnecting this one and see if it is the rite one by driving truck carefully...if it is rite then yu have wire yu need.
Apart from this I have diagrams in my manual....but the only way i can get em to yu is photocopy and snail mail.

Is it a 12v truck or a 24v?
What year is it?
How many wires come out of ECU?(24v has more wires)
I'v done my truck 24V.
I have a manual that shows wiring for 12v also.
Post a pic of ECU if you can.
You dont need to look at trans wiring to locate lockup feed.

I'll have a look tomorro at mine and get the colour code(think its pink with grey stripe but well check tomorro)I have mine up under dash so it doesnt get wet .

To conform correct wire you can back probe with DMM and check voltage when lock up accours(well have 12v only when lock up has in-gauged)

I actually dont own an auto....but I have given this info to another bloke...and have had a look at his . From memory it is a black unit ....and the connectors both plugged into the side of it ...not bottom as looks in your pic. Sorry yu didnt find the blue wire....my workshop manual shows the solinoids inside the tranny....there is a bank of 3 together....and the only way to identify them without pulling it apart is by wire colour...in my understanding anyway. Sorry I couldnt be of more help...it seems I have run outa options on my end.

Shane. The photo done the trick mate. That wire you have taped up is the one . Mine is grey/red. I bared a bit of wire and put a crocodile clip to multimeter. Lock up shows 11 volts then goes to zero with lock up off. Will connect it tomorrow.

Special thanks mate.
