How difficult is it to install a 2" lift kit on a GU patrol ute? It has coils all round and all I will be replacing is the coils, shocks and steering dampaner, will i have to replace or align or adjust anything other than that? I am very handy with the tools but have never installed suspension before so yeah.

easy mate

you will be best to have a decent trolly jack and some axle stand.

same for either end, romove the panhard rod on one end, chassis end is often the best

remove the shocks and jack the car up, the coils may or may not be easy to pull out, if not use a coil compressor or a ratchet strap

put the new coils in, you will most likely need to compress the coils, make sure the right side coil goes in and is in correctly, you will need to pull the robber seat off the old coil and leccy tape it to the new coil before it goes in.

drop the car down and fit the panhard back up, if it wont reach then use a ratche strap between the chassis and the diff and ratchet it accross until if will fit in

after you have finnished fitting the suspension you will want a wheel alignment,but wait approx 500kms for everything to settle in properly or you will just need another one in a few kays

you shouldnt need coil spring compressors, just unbolt the sway bar and the shocks and if you can jack it high enough the diffs should drop far enough to just slot the new coils in. no need to disconnect the panhard rod either

oh yeah forgot about the sway bar, but have always done the panhard, makes the job easier imo

not sure if the wagon is the same as the ute, but I've been told that to do a 2" lift properly I would need swaybar extensions and a castor correction kit. :?

Does the GU ute or wagon have a brake proportioning valve that needs modding after lift like my old GQ did?

Any comments? anyone?

no i am pretty sure you wouldn't need any castor correction ,usually springs and shocks for 2 inch that is why they are a legal lift.
