98 GV J20A Fan and Drive belt source

Post by NadArat »

Hi,
Have been scouring the net and am not looking forward to having to pick up the phone book tomorrow.
I need to source a Fan and drive belt (aka serpentine aka belt that drives everything else to us non techs) for my 98 GV 2 lt J20A.

Cant find anything online, on ebay etc.

Anyone have a good supplier of these, sydney based, thats not too expensive?

i had mine replaced by suzuki @ 80,000 cost around $40 fitted. i think this is the part number on the invoice G5PK1650.

some times its easier going genuine as it's an on the self part.

Had bad experience with suzi at parramatta here.
Charged me $450 to tell me my gearbox was stuffed, part needed was 3 months away, and no other option.
Had to get it towed to another place, who did a good deal on a second hand one thats still going find 40k later, however I needed something of them recently and they were not even close to other quotes. (suzi wrecker near penrith)

Seems I cant win.

If I could get away with $40 at a dealer, then I would do it in a second, no dramas here. Might start with the phone calls to them in the morn.
Thanks for the fast reply

give suzuki a call & see what they have to say. i have had good service & info from one of our suzuki dealers in SA. you can use their price as a starting point if you want to try aftermarket but sometimes the extra phone calls etc aren't worth the hassle to save a buck. let us know how ya get on cause if had some issues trying to order other stuff thru repco & having the wrong part numbers listed in their books.

ie: early vitara BALL JOINTS.

Rang Bursons and they did it for about $40.
They have to order one in and are confident it is going to arrive on Monday, so will let you guys know.
Appreciate the help, it wasnt no where as difficult as I thought. I will have to stop buying parts from repco I think, if its not a holden or a ford its not on their books......
