are these bearings on wrong?
are these bearings on wrong?
dont ask about lack of backing plate as going rear disc. dont need it.
basically got the old bearings off, right pita but then proceeded to put the new ones on same as old ones came off. thought it looked a bit weird but being a zook, many things are not normal.
after getting home and looking at it. i am not sure either way,
Are these bearings wrong way or not?? if they are bring out the grinder. damn previous owners.
btw, will they work this way or will i get leakage around seal?

SEALS on wrong
YEP.. backwards. the seal is supposed to go on the spline side of the bearing to keep oil out. I would re-install them as they may wear excessively and ruin your diff centre with metal fragments. Might not be that safe either??
ive just replaced my rear bearings and they were exactly that way in your pic when i pulled out my bearings. i took them to a 4wd shop and they pressed them on exactly the same way except the retainer ring had a 45 degree cut was positioned right against the bearing. which makes sense so it doesnt touch the moving part of the bearing.
Sweet. thx bazooked.bazooked wrote:thats the right way around so dont worry, and if ya eva do take them off they are not reusable.
i didnt think they were reuseable.

bearings?
Check for yourself.... I didn't answer until I checked with the book.. www.suzukiinfo.com
I can't see that it will matter as the bearing sits out side the axle seal and mud still finds its way to both sides of the bearing.
But what will hold the axle/bearing in the tube when you don't have a backing plate ? Not trying to be funny, I just want to know. Or does this job now belong to the brake disc and caliper ?

Re: bearings?
which book? this link doesnt go to anything specific. that sealed end actually spaces the wheel bearing in towards diff. if the bearing was on the otherway round you wouldn't be able to get the brake backing plate over the bearing.want33s wrote:Check for yourself....
