MASIVE intake noise in dd
i know its not a 4wd
but my pulsar has developed a MASIVE intake noise,
any thing past half throttle..
it is EXTREMLY loud, and looses heeps of power,
but under that drives as normal!!!!
still starts and runs fine!
ANY ideas?
i have taken all intake of to throttle boddy, it is bloody loud and thats where it is comming from.
it isnt using any more fuel. and has about normal power below half throttle..
it is only when under load!!!

nope carnt be vacume as it actualy comes out of the throttle boddy, and idles very nice....
and timing would fuck up and have no power..
it only sceems to be after half throttle..
i would say fuel if it was just dieing.. but its not.. it is just making HUGE noise.. and haveing no power!

An exhaust restriction will give you all the symptoms you have given. Crimped exhausted? Loose baffles in muffler/resonator.
It will increase induction noise just like a jacobs exhaust brake does on a truck. It will lack power at higher throttle openings because it simply can't shift the air out the exhaust.
Unbolt the flange on the manifold and take it for a quick wrap to see if the power increases back to normal.
Cheers, Dan

Yep a cat will do it. It may even be cat broken up and blocking resonator or the cat itself.lay80n wrote:It hasn't run rich at all at some time Phil, as a rich mixture will burn out the cat, blocking the honeycomb setcion up.
Layto....
