What to do with a surf?

Post by Frankenyota »

Hey guys have come across a cheap '92' model 2 door surf with a 2lte & 5 speed gearbox, dual tanks, snorkel, winch bar.

Has a few dents, the winch bar is pushed back from a minor collision, damaged flares [ 2 ] but overall body is in good nik.
Steering box is leaking, small oil leak, needs brakes and shocks and tyres.

Seems to drive ok power wise. Doesn't over heat [ know about the common head faults etc ]
Asking price is $1,500 with 6 months rego.

I could use a lot of these parts for my ute and part it out, or fix it up and sell it?

Let me know what you think.

Cheers
Matt

mate dosnt sound to bad, but is the bullbar bent or the chassis?

Sounds ok for your bush truck as you wont be as worried about damaging it.

If you wanted to make it schmik later I wouldnt get it.

There are no major marks on the bar, it's just looks as if the tops pushed back close to the bonnet.
Couldn't tell if the chassis was bent but it did steer funny. Not sure if that was the shocks etc?

Is there a way to tell by looking?

Already have a 83 v6 lux with duals and 35" tyres for the rough stuff :)

I hope you're prepared for a world of troubles... Surfs can be a real pain in the ass, and they're not that good in the bush.

You have to spend up big to get them to go anywhere.

Having said that, i have, and i love mine.
