Head shaving, Cam + Port and polish. (TB42)

Post by Rhysta »

Ok got the head coming off on the tb42, I did a bit of a search around on the site and came up with dribs and drabs of info.

So far it seem's shaving a bit of the head gives you some noticable increase of power on gas. Combined with a cam and a few other minor mods the tb42 could be turned into a fairly responsive motor so it seems.

So from looking around on the site most posts are a bit old and I was after a bit of updated info on anyone doing this type of work to there tb42.

Also any decent places in the sth east or there abouts who know what they are doing with this motor for the head and cam work.

And anyone who has done this to there motor, and how they foudn it came out after.

Rhys.

shave your head heaps for heaps of compression
get electronic ignition and beefy coil. Regraph your advance curve for gas
get very good leads
port match your intake and exhaust
just clean up your head, no need to port
Gas cam, dialed in correctly
Extractors, HPC coated.

do this to your head ( pics from great board member)

they releive the water jackets of super heated water from the exhaust, ALSO the best place to remove airlocks
this is the BEST place to do it, better than behind the block.

once you do this, you will find your gas powerd patrol to be more powerful and much more economical than it was ever on petrol :D

Running perfect except for cold starting. I just use a bit of hand throttle until she's warm.
