the window fault is usually the window lift ECU behind the glovebox. Pull it out, and open the case up (or alternatively, pull it out of the case without unbolting it, much easier!). Check the circuit board for a broken solder joint. If theres a broken solder joint, you can usually just solder it up, and it'll be fine - sometimes they melt components though, in which case you probably need a new ecu (unless you are good at identifying burnt components!)

You'll have to work out which ecu it is, as there are three? behind the glovebox - drop the actual box bit right down by lifting the limiting straps through their holes (Self explanatory when you look at it). If you pull the window switch panel up you can probably match colours pretty easy. Fairly sure that ecu has a black case.

Central locking is likely to be the master actuator in the drivers door..... can't give any suggestions of how to test it other than disconnect it and push it all the way in and out and see if anything happens - or swap one in out of a mates car. Last time I checked they're expensive.. :(

Well i looked at the BCM (same as ECU on petrol model) and found a serious dry joint. Resoldered, but still no go. Any more ideas?

just go to Supercheap or EBay and purchase a central locking kit with 5 actuators and retro fit them - they fit in easily. While you at it, hook it up to an immobiliser and remote key control unit - if you don't have one. I threw our Rover CL actuators away as the driver's unit was stuffed, not worth fixing and wayyyyy tooooo expensive to buy new.

Ive been thinking about doing exactly that. Did u use the standard wiring and fit to actuators or put new wiring in?
