My zook is the first car I have owned, and I have not changed the clutch, so excuse me for my ignorance on this topic
What does a slipping clutch feel like? I worked the clutch pretty hard on some steep inclines over the last couple, and on acceleration (once I get some warmth into the car) in first gear, I get a hesitation before it picks up again. It feels like I have actually depressed and let out the clutch pedal really quickly, and I think I am getting some feedback through the clutch pedal.
Is the clutch buggered or is it possibly something else?

Steps one - Pull handbrake on tight, foot hard on brake.
Step two - Put car in 5th.
Step three - Rev engine up to say 2500RPM.
Step four - Slowly release clutch. (please point car away from things, and have brakes locked hard.
If clutch seems to be slipping or does not stall motor, then clutch is faulty. Other option is to find a steel hill, and try to labour third up it with lots of throttle. You will know if its slipping cause the RPM will increase but the road speed wont, and when you bakc off the RPM will fall to match road velocity.

ive just recently replaced the clutch & pressure plate on my sierra.. But as I was working on the car, it managed to get some gear oil spilt on it(the disc)... I then steam cleaned it to get rid of the slippery feel... I then put it in the car, and i found the clutch slips when its in third and its going uphill...
I have adjusted the clutch cable etc, is it the oil on the disc or something else. btw its a gti engine.

You MUST remove all oil from friction surface. Oil that soaks in burns when clutch gets hot causing a layer of steamy smoke between clutch and pressure plate/flywheel. Resulting in NO GRIP...Years ago(out west) I lost rear brakes on my car because of leaking axle seals. I replaced the seals but could not get replacement brake shoes. I was told to burn my brake pads in petrol to remove diff oil by a mechanic. I soaked them in petrol for 10 minutes then shook off excess and lit them up. They burned for 5 minutes and actually worked afterwards. I don't suggest you burn your clutch but its worth remembering. DON'T SPILL STINKY GEAR OIL!
