Handsfree wireless intercoms
I'm looking at hansfree wireless intercoms for winch challenge type events. I know the rock crawling guys are starting to use these. What's available?, What's good and what's not and how much do you pay for something worth while????
Kevvy and Krimnal had one on the weekend. Kevvy said from OPW. I presume it's the digitalk job? Are these the go??
What else is around if anything.
I don''t really want VOX UHFs cos they're shit.
I want an open air duplex system. Not VOX and not PTT.
Any advice would be appreciated
Cheers Dan

Mate if you can hold off the makers and distributors of (round eyes just a brand name version )they are making a new version that is ok to use here in Aus.

Lockers or Knockers ,both will make for fun.

We use the ones from ABT too - don't know how we ever managed without them. They are clear, you hear every word, and its like having a normal conversation.
Highly recommended.
They are from Eartec.

chat to sean at ABT!!!
alternatively we run a system that suits us heaps better. We use 2 of the new Uniden flip home phones (~$200 each) and 2 scala-rider bluetooth headsets ($80-$120 each for the helmets. The advantages being the phones have a 10hr talk time / 5 day standby and dont need a base to communicate to each other. The headsets are bluetooth so no wires to catch on things and are water-resistant and have a 30hr talktime and 10day standby, and the ear piece speaker is the size of a 20c coin and SOOOOOO loud. Plus now you can get waterproof bluetooth headsets, so just put the small flip phone in one of those waterproof camera/phone pouches and you can literally go swimming!!.

Eartec supply roundeye (round eyes are re-branded Eartecs).
You don't need a base of any kind - just the 2 hand sets and 2 headsets.

Had a good convo with sean at ABT this afternoon. He has these things for $695.00
He was very informative and helpful. I think this is what we'll end up getting.
I did forget to ask him about the chargers though. I see they come standard with a US type charger, i'll find out tomorrow if they come with Aussie 240 volt charger
Cheers Dan
