Lsd into GQ project

Post by DR Frankenstine »

So far so good.
I have the MQ lsd centre pulled down to remove the thrust block and found the only thing wrong with it was a broken spring plate disc. No worries got one from the local nissan dealer o-nite for $60 suprise suprise!!
I borrowed a gq crownwheel so I can get the new holes machined into the lsd hemisphere to suit the Gq crownwheel. You cant just drill them out to 12mm as they are off-set by 1.5mm to the original 10mm holes in the MQ himisphere. They must be done on a miller with a special cutter so that it won't try to follow the original hole like a drill bit will.
Although the carrier bearings are a different part number the dimensions are the same, the difference is in the taper of the bearing and cap, I decided to go for the MQ ones (they were cheaper).
When I get the hemisphere back the real job will start I'll keep you all posted
