Chopping a GQ into a dual cab?

Post by GU BUG »

I'm looking @ getting myself a GQ ute or even better, buying a GQ wagon & cutting it into a dualcab with a tray.

I know there's been a few on the forum here & I was wondering if someone could give me a round about price of what the whole exercise would cost?

Cheers

Depends on a few things.

Are you doing it yourself?

Are you respraying the rest of it while your at it? Depending on the colour of the 4wd you buy can vary the price also.

Do you want a cheap job or quality job?

Mine cost me about $1500 but I work in a panel shop and the rear panel was $500 and I had to replace the turret because mine used to be a high roof which was another $600 The other $400 was for beers and jimbeam to keep the boys helping happy.

There are shops around doing it for about $5000 but I don't think the jobs would be top quality for that. :? At a guess you would be looking at about $7000 to $10,000 for a top quality job and depending on wheather the shop has done it before on what they would charge.

Shops that do it all the time would be able to do it quicker which means it would be cheaper. A shop that hasn't done it before would take longer so the price would be higher because your paying them to learn.

Hope that helps a bit.

Cheers Mick.
