G'day i've got 1.3L G13A, it has a factory 4-1 exhaust system, i was wondering if it'd make difference after fitting 4-2-1 extractor with the original exhaust system as it's nearly new?

Or do you recommand fitting in sport system for up to 2 inch?

I have an 85 4runner with a Holden 253 in it. My question is do you know if anyone make a set of extractors to suit? If not any ideas on what i might be able to get in sort of easily? Or if worse came to worse what would you charge for a custom made set?

gday mate, ive got a TD42 with snorkel and pacemaker extractors, im wanting to get a turbo but that will probably happen towards end of the year.
which exaust set up would be best for?

alot of people say 2.5 inch so i dont lose L4 grunt.......

can you please recomemd part number or exact brands, or how to have installed for best preformance.....

Hi there,

I will be starting a Ls1 into a GQ Conversion very soon, and am having troubles finding someone that can either sell me or make headers that will clear the chassis. Are you able to supply / make such a thing ?

if it already has extractors dont bother changind them but i would suggest a 2" system

leave you pacemaker extractors on they are ok
ad get a 2"5 exhaust made up for it make sure u a realy large mufflerin the front and a good resonator in the rear

My exhaust is RS and in need of replacement. It's on a 3Ltr V6 Pajero.

Just a quicky, i have a sierra 1.3. it has extractors and a 2" exhaust with hotdog. Will a straight through exhaust give me a bit more power?(it'll be for offroad/comp driving) even if just helping a little, its a gain i need! LOL

WITH A 2.5 " SYSTEM YOU WILL GET A GOOD POWER GAIN the back pressure u need to create torque is enough created by the cat muffler and bends u realy only need about 2.5lb of back pressure if your worried about loosing torque at all drop your pipe size to 2.25" this will give you more torque

Just wanted to run a quick one by you.
I have a 4.8 Patrol and have just recently put a set of extractor and hi flow cat and exhaust on it. It is still waiting to get a resonator so is very loud but the problem I have is since having it fitted it has fucked the idle.

The motor is otherwise stock and never did this before.
After driving it drops idle down too low but then after a few secs it picks it back up then drops slowy again.

Any ideas. I was thinking maybe a sensor was affected after the extractors or maybe the extra heat. or maybe because it is so barky and poping etc it may have destroyed the brand new cat???

Any ideas appreciated

Hi Exhaustfix just went through every post on this thread. Mate what can i say i am impressed with what i have seen so far.
Now to my question. I have a 2001 Pajero on dual fuel 3.5 v6 5 speed auto.
I have spoken to one of the local lads re my exhaust system i am looking at more low end power to mid not worried about top end as i dont give it heaps. I just want to improve overall drivability.
The local lad suggested to remove the front section of the exhaust from the back of the manifolds down to the cat and replace these pipes with 2.5 inch mandrel bend pipes. His reason was that the standard items dont flow very well. He has done this on a magna 3.5 and the customer was happy from what he tells me. Cost apx 360 dollars there abouts.
In regards to cat back what sort of system do you reccomend with this vehicle. There is a huge muffler up the front which im sure its a restriction in its self. Currently undler load the vehicle sounds like a vacume cleaner. Probably restricted.
Any recommendations greatly appreciated and pricing too please.
In regards to getting work done through your shop how long in advance should someone setup an appointment?

i wouldent want to even speculate on the problim
my sugestion is that u take it back to the shop that fitted it for you and ask them if they could get it checked out if you speek to them nicely and explain the problem and how its only happened since the exhaust was done u will proberly get a better result or take it to a dealer and get it put on an anilizer could be a throttle position switch

Yeah I will be doing that today. I don't anticipate any major probs.
Will just have to get some diagnostic tests done to see what going on.
My money is on a sensor or something somewhere.

straight through with in reason

what u have is not enough backpressure for such a small engine i would add a straight through muffler as well you will loose low down power with just a hot dog

hey EXHAUSTFIX, i have an 81 SWB MQ patrol, SD33 engine, would running a 2.5 zorst in a straight line from engine to rear make much dif? or is it just gunna mean i wont use as much pipe?:P hole in current one and was thinkin bout replacing the lot...

the best thing i have found for a commodore is good extractors into twin cats and a 2 inch twin system into a single 2.5:rear

Hey mate you seem real busy......
quick one for you. Got a zook 1.3L with a webber and standard exhaust. want it to breath a little better.will it be ok keepin the standard engine pipe and adding a 2" system with hot dog and resonator or will i have to add extractors? will this pipe be enough or too much? Just want it to breath on a budget.

Hey Ross, have just finished reading through this whole thread amazing effort greatly appreciated!

Now down to business, I have 93 80 Series Std DIESEL.

Am looking at fitting extractor in near future with 2.5" mandrel bent straight through muffler to run along inside of chassis rail due to future custom rock sliders to bolt around/onto chassis.
What brand extractor works well, and what to stear clear of?
Is it worth going 2.5 as the standard exhaust is already 2+1/4 and am happy to cut out middle muffler..

I'm after noise but dont want to loose out on power and backpressure etc.

I have been quoted $1,000 for 2.5 mandrel straight through muffler and extractors (will have to enquire as to what brand extractors they where again) but if you can beat this price you have the job ;)

My mate also has 93 80 series GXL PETROL and we will both be upgradeing at the same time i would say.
Query, his being petrol with alot more boot, is he able to go 3" without looseing power?

G,day again. Thanks for the info on my extractors and pipes for the V6 Runner.

I drowned the engine (very upset about that) so picked up a VT V8 to replace it with (not so upset about that).

The standard exhaust manifolds won't fit real well. I have heard that SS block hugger headers exist, is this true.

If not what might be a good set of headers to start modifying to fit.

if when in a tight spot, i was to back into a mound of dirt or be in some situation like that where the exhaust is blocked, is that gunna do nethin bad to my engine?

if so, would fitting twin exhausts, one on each side ov the vehicle, be of any help??
