Hey guys i have a 92 gq tb42 when i do the points she runs a treat but it will only last about 1000ks if im lucky i done the obvious coil plugs leads resistor but im starting to get sick of doing the points all the time. would there be anything wrong with my distributor or should i just get a electronic kit and this should fix the problem? if so which one seems to be the most reliable.

points
I have the same motor/ignition set-up. I found the same thing replace points would only get a couple thousand k's before it was running as rough as before. I replaced the bosch points / genuine condenser with genuine points / genuine condenser and now get about 25 thou k's with no problems. And the price difference is about $27 for the genuine set from memory.

I just replaced my points for the pertronix ignitor setup. It cost about $220 mail order from Ontrack in Melb, and only took about half an hour to install (and is really faaarkin easy too - only two wires to join, and a little mod to the dizzy shaft that you can do with a small angle grinder).
The unit seems pretty bullet proof and is literally 'set-and-forget'
